error 908 from informix.

Hello!

Someone knows why sometimes the fuser command doesn??t works fine when the pkg goes down from the server A to startup in the server B?
When this happens, the server B can??t activate the vg because de vg still active in the server A

Any Ideia?

This looks like the Database engine is not closing off processes in time for hte Sg package halt script to do a succesfull completion.
You may want to check what process are still running when a shutdown of the package is called.
Not sure what an Informix error 908 is.

i think that you must refine your quetion.

error 908 : i recall if from SQL-error 908, and it is from informix. i think to remember that was: no connection to informix, or something similar.

fuser: what do you mean, that it does not work properly ?

fuser is used by the cluster to umount the FS, but is not used on raw device.

Informix uses raw devices, and they are not fuser-ed on pkg close, but the problem is that your informix in not closed. That is the problem.

-908 Attempt to connect to database server (servername) failed.

The program or application is trying to access another database server
but has failed. Note the server name in the current statement.

The desired database server is unavailable, or the network is down or
is congested.

Looks like you are trying to connect to the database which is not running.
It might be in the shutdow state on one server.

First check if onmode -ky really worked before trying to change the package to another server.

Which vg cannot be de-activated on server A ( INFORMIX??)
