      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;BEST is normally best. However, you may want to check the device file minor numbers. They should be something like:&lt;BR /&gt;0x040000 c4t0d0BEST&lt;BR /&gt;0x040080 c4t0d0BESTb&lt;BR /&gt;0x040040 c4t0d0BESTn&lt;BR /&gt;0x0400C0 c4t0d0BESTnb&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Note that the 040 part identifies the address of the tape drive and that the three remaining hex numbers are flags.&lt;BR /&gt;080 (binary 00001000000) = Berkeley&lt;BR /&gt;040 (binary 00000100000) = No rewind&lt;BR /&gt;Provided the last digit is a zero then the drive will use max compression.
