    <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;While trying to initialize informix instance using tbinit,received the following error. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;$ tbinit&lt;BR /&gt;tbinit: shmat[EINVAL][22]: shared memory base address illegal&lt;BR /&gt;        using 0xcee7d000, needs 0xc4c93000&lt;BR /&gt;tbinit: fatal error in shared memory creation    &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks&lt;BR /&gt;John Jayaseelan</description>

      <description>Hello!&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Try to work with ipcs (check in man)&lt;BR /&gt;that will show you shared mem. aloc.&lt;BR /&gt;semafors that in use, maybe you will&lt;BR /&gt;find something that will explain.&lt;BR /&gt;You may also try to check the shared mem.&lt;BR /&gt;in the kernel, maybe you will need to&lt;BR /&gt;add more to the shmmax etc.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Caesar</description>

      <description>That is a very unusual error.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This thread seems similar.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;A href="http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x42b2d5fab40ed6118ff40090279cd0f9,00.html" target="_blank"&gt;http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x42b2d5fab40ed6118ff40090279cd0f9,00.html&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Understand that with the earlier performance advice there are limitations.  shmmax will simply ignore settings bigger than 25% of total available memory which is defined as physical ram plus swap.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;For a good picture of available memory, try swapinfo -tam&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>
