Bryan gave great advice, and in addition he tried it by himself and it works :o)
I would add that if patch will not fix a problem (it's unlikely) you can test your DAT drive with HP LTT utility to see if it reports any issues http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/ltt/index.html
Eugeny

We are frequently facing a problem on HP Server model rp7410, in which the DAT Drive(DDS4) connected to it stops responding.
Neither LEDs connected to DAT Drive responds nor it ejects the tape loaded into it.

When checked with the syslog it shows the error of SCSI BUS hangs connected to DAT Drive

I am sending you the desired details as an attachement.
Hi,

We have run into the same situation with one of our rp's and we installed a patch to remedy it. I beleive the patch is PHKL_25938 but there is a newer patch which is PHKL_28496.

Hope this helps!
-Bryan

You should place a call to HW Support. This may be related to the firmware of the tape drive.
