Install Order

I was hoping someone could give me a little insight as to the best order to perform a cold install.

What I have been doing (at a high level) is:
1. Install the core OS from CD (HP-UX 11.0 Nov99 release)
2. Install optional packages such as OnlineJFS, MirrorDisk, etc.
3. Install Support, Diags, & Patch Bundle (Mar2000)

Is there a better order to do this (e.g. Core -> Patches -> Optional apps)?

I believe you have the order of installation correct.
The reason is that if you load CORE->patches->OptionalProducts you would then still need to patch the optional products!

The way you are doing it means you do all the patching once.

You may like to create a software depot and put all three together. When installing or upgrading this may save up to about 5 reboots.

I used a software depot to upgrade our 10.20 servers to 11. I put the core os applications and patches on the same software depot. The upgrade took only 3 hours with one reboot. Patches, Applications and all
