Scenario

ito using oracle database in a service gaurd cluster.

I am unable to start ito as there seems to be a problem starting oracle.

In the package log it says that it could not connect to the database ov_net.

Allthough earlier in the log it shows that it goes into svrmgr and starts the database.

The only other major error is that 1 of the dbf file needs a media recovery, I know about this bit and ito has started before with this error.

Help! I know nowt about oracle

You should contact a DBA.

Eve so,

see you package script to know how to start oracle.

Search srvmgr and before the startup intruction

do:

startup mount
recover database;

If it say database recovered
you can do

alter database open.

But, once more, You should contact a DBA.

DBA whats one of those then? :)

We dont have a dba, or many other necessities for that matter.
Just fun trying to figure things out when they go bang!

Did find the following post which shed a bit more light, but not much.

I can manually start oracle allthough it's complains about the dbf file, then start the listener.

Then i run opc but still receive - cant connect to database ov_net.

tnsping ov_net from oracle responds ok.
