      <description>Look for syslogd ... sometimes it hangs...if so restart the syslogd&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;maybe have a look at the syslog.conf</description>

      <description>It is possible that the syslog daemon (syslogd) has died or has been disabled. The very first thing to do is a "ps -ef | grep syslogd" to see if the daemon is running. If not, restart it. If it dies again, you may want to add the -d (debug) option. You might also have a missing or corrupt /etc/syslog.conf file.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Apart from what have been mentioned, another possiblility is that someone might have (at some point) deleted the syslog.log file, recreate a fresh "zero" size syslog.log or edit the syslog.log BUT without restarting syslogd daemon. At that point it'll stop logging.</description>
