      <description>First of all you have to connect the modem on the remote port of the pigtail cable supplied for the console connection. The go the GSP prompt and set the speed of the modem port. If you give Ctrl-B on the console it will go to the GSP prompt. As far as I remember you have to give bc for setting the modem port or you can make it out from the help. And then configure the modem port from SAM. or you can do it manually by editing the inittab file.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Sandip</description>

      <description>To add to Sandip's answer:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You will need to use Kermit or cu to send appropriate configuration strings to the modem (ie how many rings before answering, whether it resets on DTR changing state, etc.) &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Also, at the GSP I believe CA is the Configure Access port command, and ER for Enable Remote.  You will need to set the GSP to allow session mode, otherwise the device file will appear to be disconnected.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You could also consider using a  separate mux card in which case you wouldn't need to touch the GSP config and it would still be available for use by Predict or dial in from HP support.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;regards,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Darren.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
