Hi,
the nproc value should be 4096 and according to this value, some of the kernel parameters values will also change, look into orcale 8.1.7 installation doc. by looking at the values you have provided it looks that swap is 1GB and RAM is 512 MB which is enough for oracle 8.1.7.

Hi
Think I have the parameters OK as I have several database up and running without problems. And the dbassist tool works fine if I let it do the database creation right away instead of generating a script.
But you know the script is nice to have, (especially if the creatinon fail and you have to start over, and also in recovery procedures)

Tried to crank up th nproc value to 4096, but the error remains.

ANdreas
