The fileset to look for is SystemAdmin.XXX
If you have another machine that has SAM in it, run ..
# swlist -l fileset|grep -i systemadmin
.. and you'll see what I mean. You need to mount the install cd (core os) and run swinstall on it.

What are the steps to install SAM in a B180L workstation ?
Looks like it was stripped off at some point I need to perform several administrative tasks there.

Thanks.

Alex,

I've never installed it separately but I would imagine you need the Core/OS cd. Drill down into the filesets until you find SAM and install it.

Pete

See my reply here for greater detail on how to install SAM.
http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x2211543254bfd611abdb0090277a778c,00.html

Thank you all for the fast replies.

I also found that the PATH variable was screwed up and not containing /usr/sbin in it.

I can bring SAM now (strangely) only if I telnet to that box. If I'm locally it keep saying the TERM that is set is not supported...

Well, this will work anyways.

Thanks again.

Set up the right terminal type and export the display. If you don't know the terminal type try vt100

TERM=vt100
export TERM

You should be able to get SAM.
