Hi,

I had this problem right after a cold installation of hpux11i. It is the issue of not able to add network stuff such ip on hosts files. The init:command is respawning too rapidly message occurs every 5 minutes. Then you can not use sam or vi to edit hosts file.
As soon as hosts file with proper ip address edited and reboot, the problem disappear.

But should there be any way to avoid this happened? I tried both network and nonetwork enabled options, result is the same.

If you can not edit host file fast enough, you screw yourself up.

Thanks for any help.

Steven

shut the system down into single user mode, and make your changes there. I've installed quite a few 11 and 11i servers and I have never encountered that issue - very interesting!
