AutoComplete Not Working

I just bought a new Compaq 6400NX with WinXP Home Edition and the AutoComplete is not working. For example, when I search on Google and then go back to repeat the search, it isn't showing the previous searches. When I log into PayPal or other sites, and the dialogue box pops up asking if I want it to remember my password, I say yes, but then I go back and it doesn't remember it. Or, when I try to log onto my server account ( you can see thie box here: http://www.handcrafted-art.com/cpanel ) I check the "Remember My Password" box, but it doesn't remember it.

By the way, I've already gone to Tools>Internet Options> Content Tab> AutoComplete and checked the all boxes to remember all passwords, etc. Please help! I've already done a complete system restore and started from scratch but I can't get AutoComplete to work.

Hi,
There is a windows XP forum If you go to the forums main page under Microsoft.
Sounds alsmost like a "security" (for lack of a better term) setting.
You could also check www.technet.com

It's just really strange because I never had this problem with my Compaq Presaroi 4400US....

The ITRC has Microsoft forums, including an "internet tools" forum and a "Windows XP" forum... Go there, devil! :o)

Before you go to a more suitable place, I can tell you it smells like a rights problem, NTFS or registry. That system is badly designed enough not to complain on many error events, including rights problems. I would not be surprised if an administrator account would be able to activate the auto-complete feature...

If you're stuck with that, go Linux, or FreeBSD... or HP-UX!
