HP will soon come out with a new networking product. This new product is called RIPng (Routing Information Protocol Next
Generation) and should be released mid-May.

It is based on RFC2080, it is for HP-UX 11i and of course IPv6 is a must!

I would like to know from you if there are any HP support customers willing to be beta site for RIPng.

Berlene
Hi Berlene,
I'm a little concerned as i'm using gated..
But i'm absolutly not concerned by ipv6.
If RIPng includes the ipv4 with rip and other routing protocols then i'm interested because I don't like the gated product (In fact i don't understand all i think).

I'm also using zebra (http:www.zebra.org) wich inlude ipv6, but i'm using it on Linux. And i don't think it can works with HP-UX as there are many kernel related commands. Advantage of this product is the cisco "cisco look and feel", which is nice for networks admins who can work with it without knowing anything about the system.

Gated include (the commercial version) ipv6, will ripng be based on this product ?

regards
Benoit
______________
"Les femmes ont plus de honte de confesser une chose d'amour que de la faire."
Benoit, if I understand your question, RIPng will only work with ipv6 and it listens on a different port than gated.

gated and RIPng (530 and 531 I think.

Berlene
