Database connectivity from Apache/PHP (UX 11i) to MS SQL2000

Hi,

I don't know if this is the right place to be asking this question, but I have a HPUX server running HP-UX 11i. I am using the Apache Web server and PHP inbuilt support. I now want to use the PHP engine to pull records out of a MS SQL 2000 database over the network.

Is this possible?? I noticed that there seems to be lots of entries in the php.ini file about database connectivity. I have found lots of references to this on the web but they all seem to imply that the PHP support will need to be recompiled, this is something I will do if I have to ... But I would rather not.

I have only just started playing with databases as a back end to a web site, so please be gentle with me :)

Any help would be appreciated.
