hi guys i have a problem printing a report, this report is produced using oracle reports 6,
it used to be produced under reports 2.5 and that all worked ok.
the problem is that since upgrading the report nolonger runs in Duplex, only simplex, i have manually set the lpadmin printer id to try and enforce duplex, but to no avail.
from looking into it on the oracle metalinks web site i found out that it is a known problem, which seems to have been around since 98, but no fix from oracle.
i have found a resolution on the web site but seems a bit messy and wondered if anyone has encountered the same issues.
Heres the resolution found.Copy your ppd file to $ORACLE_HOME/guicommon6/tk60/admin/PPD. It might be necessary to rename the ppd file. In this case the ppd file was renamed from fs-9000.ppd to fs9000.ppd because a hyphen is not allowed in the name of ppd files (bug 1272581). - Make an entry for your printer in uiprint.txt, for example lp0:PostScript:2:Duplex Printer:fs9000.ppd: - Write a sed script file called 'duplexsed' with the following three lines: /^%%BeginPageSetup/,$ { /^%%BeginFeature/,/^%%EndFeature/d } - Copy the file to an appropriate directory, for example $ORACLE_HOME/bin. - Set the environment variable TK_PRINT: TK_PRINT="sed -f $ORACLE_HOME/bin/duplexsed | lpr -l -s -P'%n' -#'%c'" export TK_PRINT Note that the print command is different for the various kinds of Unix. See your installation guide and man pages. - Note that the TK_PRINT command is only executed if DESTYPE=PRINTER. If DESTYPE=FILE you still get a PostScript file with page setup information. You can use the duplexsed script to correct this file. can anyone with superior solaris skills convert the LPR command into hp-ux as i have been able to find some but not all conversions.
regards
andrew

You might try routing the job to an HP-8000 Laserjet printer that is set for duplex. We can't seem to make that printer STOP duplexing jobs that we want pritned one printside per page.

SEP
