Sorry, I just tried the link I left, and it doesn't work. The whole licensing.hp.com site seems to be down, or I got some cookie crumbs stuck in my browser's throat. ??

Anyway, all I did was go to licensing.hp.com, and click on FAQs on the Nav bar on the left, then on Glossary, then did a 'find' (ctrl-F) for LTU.

I copied and pasted the URL directly out of my browser, so if it can't find it now, something's haywire somewhere.

Oh well, just another day on the HP website...

Regards, --bmr

I think it's License To Use. It's actually a proof that you are using a valid OS and you 've the License to use it.

No it's not a low down version of the OS. It's simply a license or codeword that you would get from any HP-UX application that requires it. Sometimes these LTUs would include different tier level (depending on the model of the server you're running the application on).

While the esteemed gentlemen above have certainly answered the question, here is HP's answer:

http://licensing.hp.com/glossary.slm#ltu

The glossary may also answer other questions you may have on how licensing works, and when you need to worry about it. There are lots of other informative bits (NPI) on the HP licensing website (http://licensing.hp.com).

Best Regards, --bmr
