/usr missing

I've done a really dumb thing! I backed up /usr using tar as we needed to extend another filesystem - more than plenty already in /usr.
I reduced /usr to 0 & then extended & did newfs. I now have a tape of tar that I can't figure how to get on the machine. I'm at single user level so can't ftp. I've tried bringing it up to init 2 but it fails. Of course all the newconfig stuff was in /usr.

Thanks a million! I did a 'find' on another machine for tar & the only one it came up with was /usr/bin/tar so I thought I was doomed.

Ran into trouble as /usr was not mounted & we can't mount it from sbin so looks like ignite..
