      <description>Probably the best way is to a ulimit -c 0 in the user's .profile. On second thought, THE BEST WAY is to fix the code so that it does not dump core.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Anu,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;To prevent the creation of core files in unix requires a developer to insure that their program doesn't do stupid things like: failing to do adequate error checking, failure to make sure resources are available before consuming them, and failure to trap error conditions or potential error conditions.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Basically, you can't prevent them, but you can do a few things. One, just delete them. Two, report the core file creation to the responsible party whose software caused it to happen.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;live free or die&lt;BR /&gt;harry</description>
