The parameter to increase in nkthread, not nproc and make sure you have the latest inetd patch installed to try to stop the erratic behaviour. Do a search for it on the itrc.hp.com under patch database.

I read some threads in Forum about this problem.

I recently faced problem where users were not able to establish 'telnet' or 'ftp' connections to server. I was able to login at console and found that 'inetd' was running. My syslog didn't showed any errors except the above one. Is this error related to the problem my users faced.

I was able to solve the problem by just recycling the 'inetd' but want to make sure if the error is linked to erratic behaviour of 'inetd' so that I can allign downtime and increase 'nproc' value.

hi,

sometimes, user login problems are depend on Kernel parameters.

especially, maxusers,nfile,nproc of kernel parameters.

make your kernel parameter is(maxusers) bigger than now if, you are able to reconfigure your maxusers value of kernel by sam.

to do this like that go to reboot..

good luck!!

Parameter in focus should be nkthread but I will also check the glance "system talbe report" and if anything is approaching 100% , I will increase that as well..
