Where can i find more information (a tutorial) on how to setup CDE environment on Windows. (tools needed, config,....everything that needed to enable windows to show CDE desktop)

To run CDE on a WIN box you can use Reflection X.

For CDE on windows 2000, I personally use Exceed by Hummingbird. www.hummingbird.com

I had to do a LOT of development for this so here are some pointers. I have been able to gather

Do not bother with the local machine man pages or the manuals when trying to understand how CDE is configured. Logic would have it that those pages would have everything you need. However, CDE man pages are all made for USER issues. Developer documents are located online or purchased.

I have not found a good book on CDE. Very few exist and I have not seen any positive reviews. Plus there are no websites dedicated to DT or CDE.

Currently there are multiple desktop types, fvwm, KDE, Gnome, and others. All have good points and bad. You can draw your own conclusions by reading the websites.
