A3404A DRIVER

Hi,
I am getting ready to install an 'A3404A' Mass storage Fiber card into a K360. It will be used to connect EMC drives. I am running 11.11. The only driver I see on the 11i App Cd is:

Fibr-Chanl-00 B.11.11.09 PCI/HSC FibreChannel; Supptd HW=A6684A,A6685A,A5158A,A6795A.

Do you think this will drive a A3404A?

Robert,

Well, the K's are either HP-PB or HSC. So if this card is in the HSC expansion slot, then it must be HSC and that driver sounds like it ought to work.

Yep, PartSurfer (http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/main) says it's HSC, so that ought to do it.

The A3404A FC card is not supported under HP-UX 11i, so it wil not work.
You need to upgrade them to A5158A's, there was at one stage a trade-in program.

If I recall correctly, Robert is still on 10.20, so that shouldn't be a problem for now - something to think about for the future, though.

So 10.20 does not come into this.
Robert, my apologies, I thought of the A3400A which is not suported at 11i.
The A3404A IS supported at 11i, ensutre you patch the FCMs drivers.

Just out of interest, here are some details for hte card upgrade program:

If you migrate to HSC TachLite A6685A, I believe you can order A3404A opt. 001 for trade-in credit.
Also,

The software driver is part of the DART with HP-UX 10.20 (since DART 35) as product J3630BA and included in the core since HP-UX 11.0.

So I would suggest looking on the CORE cd and not the Apps cd set

And my fingers run away wiht me again, it is the A3740A PCI card that is not supported at 11i (sigh) guess it is time for a beer.
It also looks like the driver you need is the FCMS Driver on the Core OS CD

Hi Robert,

Just to stir the pot a little more, I thought I'd point out that if I remember correctly, the A3404A does NOT support switched fabric.
So if you've got Brocades or such in this mix - you'll NEED the A5158A.

Of course - no PCI in a K.....

You'd need the 6685 if you've got switched fabric in use.
