Keep in mind that, depending on sendings in the admin config files in /usr/local/lib, your users can modify their own .pinerc files ... either directly with an editor like 'vi' or through the Pine setup menu.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'the menu simply not showing up' but it's possible that a user modifying the .pinerc file could be the cause.

Fred
Hi Ricky,

Well I'm not at all familiar w/PINE....but my guess is that the user in question has an environmental problem.
Compare this user's .profile to other, working user's .profiles.
You'll probably find something missing/incorrect in there. Also check this users .files against known working users. Does PINE have a .pinerc like elm has with .elmrc?

HTH,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

You simply directed me to the right way of fixing my problem. I have not successfully identified the root cause but at the very least everything goes well to the affected user/s.

Here's what I did

1. I have deleted the .pinerc (PINE personal configuration file)

2. Executed pine.
Pine automatically re-created the .pinerc

thanks...

Hi Ricky,

Check the .pinerc file on the users home dir. Seems that is corrupted. just remove or rename the file and start the pine, It will copy the default .pinerc file.

Also you can get the Main screen by pressing "M" key anywhere from the pine program.

Happy Mailing
Srini
