You should not have a problem, however you will need to relink the binaries ('relink all' from $ORACLE_HOME/bin).

Brian

Hi,

We are going to a DR site and need to know if we can install Oracle 9.0.1 from an Ignite tape that was created on a server (rp5470) running 11i with 650MHz CPUS to an N-class server running 11i with 440MHz CPUS. We have had problems in the past with the Oracle binaries not being compatible with servers that had dissimilar CPUs.

Thanks for you help!

Assuming that the oracle installed in a VG that is a part of the ignite, let'er rip onto the DR system. Relink your binaries. From here you can us your backup tool to restore the rest of the oracle filesystems and data from tape (or whatever medium you use).

After that you should be good to go.
