      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;   I login sqlplus slowly After I input passward. The sqlplus version is shown very fast. but the "SQL&amp;gt;" prompt is display slowly(about 10 seconds). I want to find the reason. Can you help me?</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;  the server is K380. and there are 2GB memory. the NIS is used to manage the username,password,hostname. and It work correctly. the sever don't use dns. the oracle version is 8.0.6.</description>

      <description>Do you have hostname in the listener.ora and the tnsnames.ora file(both server and the client).Change them to ip-address.&lt;BR /&gt;If the delay is due to the dns the above method will prove whether the delay is due to dns.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;There could also be connections being very slow due to lack of resource.What is the usage of memory and swap on the machine.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I just got some info from oracle site which I have attached.Should be useful&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks</description>
