Processor use.

I have a customer with an "N" class system running 11i on 8
processors. He wants to work on a customer prob. involving an "N"
class machine with only 1 proces-
sor. Is it possible to configure
an 8 processor "N" class to run
on just 1 processor?

You can do this by installing and configuring PRM.

I'm fairly sure you can get down to one CPU.

The system will require a reboot but.

Interrupt the boot prompt. From the BCH (interupted boot process prompt) choose 'SER'
to enter the service menu.
Choose 'CPU' to deallocate the # cpus based on cpu number # on/off

PS I also read somewhere where it could be done through MSTM, but I've never tested it. The later versions of diagnostics may allow this.

Hi,

surely.

Interrupt the boot process(by pressing any key within 10 secs)
main menu> con
main menu> proc
main menu> proc 1 off
main menu> proc 2 off
...
...
main menu> proc 7 off
main menu> reset

now the machine will boot with single processor i.e processor 0
