As someone else mentioned, PUTTY is a free winders program which I give to winders users. Remembers setups and connections, supports most TERM commands, and easy to use.
Other clients are availabie for all other Unices. I use openssh with Linux for most of my admin stuffs.

Regards,
Shannon

We have been advised to remove login and rlogin from our HP servers and replace them with SSH. How do we configure a terminal emulator to automatically use SSH and not login? TE used on site are:
HOSTACCESS, TIGER TERM and POWERTERM.
We are able to login to a seperate server and then SSH to the application server but how do we connect directly from a client machine through SSH? Any help is gratefully received.

dave

Hi Dave,

since I do not know any of youe TEb products personally, I cannot say wether they support SSH in addition to TELNET/RLOGIN.
So you may have to use another product!
What I do use myself is "OpenSSH" running in a "bash" window on my W2K laptop, and both tools are from http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin/ and are free (OpenSource). Works great for me...
My more Windows-oriented colleagues use "putty", which seems to be free (or not expensive), so maybe that's a replacement for your old TEs?

FWIW,
Wodisch
Between your HP-UX servers (ie, ftp, telnet), just use OpenSSH which can be downloaded from HP's website: software.hp.com. For PC's, there are very few free clients (Putty is one but it SSH-1 only and SSH-2 is preferred)

Otherwise, you will not be able to use terminal emulators that do not have SSH support. The best emulator for HP-UX comes from WRQ and is called Reflection. The terminal emulator is Reflection for HP, and for Xwindows, use Reflection/X. Version 10 is the latest and supports OpenSSH.
