9000/800 I70 hpux 10.20. Used sam to install some patches for the kernel. Upon reboot the system hangs shortly after /stand/vmunix. The final statement reads Logical Volume 64 0x3 configured as ROOT. I tried hpux /stand/vmunix.prev from the ISL, but the result is the same. I also tried hpux -is but it was futile as well. I am relatively new to hpux, are there any recommendations as to how I should procede?

hi jason

before you install a depot or patch that require a kernel recopilation, you must create a ignite tape with make_tape_recovery or make_recovery.

In this case, you can reboot from it and restore enteire vg00.

If you have a mirror disk, you can interrupt the mirror, create the vg structure on it, and reboot from mirror if something doesn't work.
In attach you can find all steps to do this

Now you can't reboot from vmunix.prev because (i think) you have installed many kernel patch so vmunix.prev is not the original vmunix, but the last before the lastest kernel patch.

Used sam to install software to this host, ran match what system has, analyze install, and install. The patches were PHCO_23684, PHKL_10459, PHKL_11741, PHKL_12296, PHKL_13583,PHKL_14289.
