Please Submit Your ITRC Forums Successes - August 2002

Hi Everyone,

Please submit your highlights and successes you have had while using the ITRC Forums. Your feedback helps convey the positive influences the forums have had on your IT life. For example, have you:

1. Posted a question and received a key answer that solved your problem?
2. Have you viewed a message thread that had a solution to a problem you were trying to solve?
3. Found the Forums to be of particular help in sharing information, exchanging best practices, or saving you time?

I'd really like to hear from everyone -- your circumstances, the issues, the outcome, who was of help, time saved, etc.! If you have examples to share, please provide the URL of the thread if possible.

Sometimes one may like to privatise an exchange after the main topic of the thread has concluded...

Users should have the option to make their personal email addresses visible in their forums' profile.

The "real" forums do have (to most companies, including my own) an official status. Meaning that I'm allowed to browse them (and help from time to time ;-). If my emailaddress would be "out in the open" the forums would definitely loose that status ... not good :-(

Besides you can always "show" your emailaddress in the "certifications" tag.

Correct guess :)

I gather all the user ID's from forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/MemberList and for any ID in that list I fetch the statistics for that ID

Bunny count is the number of answers the user has received a Bunny for (8-10 points)

FWIW the statistics on beepz now have every user ID linked to their home page :)

Country has been removed from the users profiles somewhere between 13-05-2002 and 23-05-2002 and is on our wishlist for Dan to return to the users credentials.

My stats try very hard to preserve information gained in the early days of my tries to gather the info. Once it was gone I had to write scripts to get info from the reports back into the DB
