Hi (Again),

As indicated by John, it uses DCE. So you might want to check the DCE versions on the other boxes including the patch levels.

-Sri

Hi,

I have a problem with one RP8400. I have several boxes with 11i loaded, however, only one of them, the Keystone has a problem with samd...

It always takes a full CPU at 100% whenever it is running. I kill it and then in a few moments it maxes out at 100% of any particular CPU.

My question is how/why is this doing this. None of my other boxes, 1 is a Superdome and 3 N-class, have no problems with samd.

CPU TTY PID USERNAME PRI NI SIZE RES STATE TIME %WCPU %CPU COMMAND
11 ? 24549 root 152 20 1972K 1084K run 20293:57 99.73 99.55 samd

Any help is greatly appreciated.

It seems either a patch problem. You can apply the HWCR patch and see the result.

Sandip

Hi,

samd is used for remote configuration of DPS and other services through SAM. You can disable it safely from /etc/inittab if you are not using it. Comment it out from /etc/inittab and do an "init q" to refresh the init process.

-Sri

These are brand new boxes. 1 superdome, 1 keystone, 3 N-class.

They should have the latest patch releases. Do you know of a certain patch for RP8400's that is H/W specific?

Todd,

It might be a patch issue, or it might be a DCE issue. Check out this thread:

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xcfce35067c18d6118ff40090279cd0f9,00.html

JP
It would be really great if we could modify posts instead of issuing new ones.

Before I disable it, I would like to know what is causing it to malfunction.

Thanks for the responses. :)
