the first problem is a known issue I beleive ... cured in the latest Motif Patch : eg 11.00 = PHSS_27230 from patch text : ...

PHSS_25877:
1. Text/TextF Destroy method should cancel
timeout id in BrowseScroll().
2. Motif Text widget and TextField widget have
inconsistent behaviour after losingFocus event.
3. Motif 2.1 applications abort when displaying
to a Sun dual screen system.
4. XmToggleButton in PopupMenu does not call
XmNvalueChangedCallback.
5. Motif2.1 scrolled window problems
(for example, in dtfile). <---------here !

As to your second problem ... not too sure what you are saying here, I'd install the latest motif and CDE patches and then get back to us with a better description/ screencapture image ?

First silplier problem. After creating a new file or dir with name starting with a letter that is lower in alphabetical order than existing (i.e. zz), part of the contents of current directory disappears.

And second - concerning .nfs* files. After I move a file (drag and drop in CDE File manager) in a remotely mounted directory into other directory, .nfs* file is created. I assume this is normal, but why it does not dissapear when file manager is closed?

Thanks

Details of 2-nd problem. On nfs client mount a remote directory. Open CDE File Manager. Drag a file in this dir and drop it in a subdir of this dir. You'll see a .nfs* file has appeard (view hidden file must be set).

2nd defect sounds like JAGad90957 with CDE's dtfile : documented in ITRC knowledge base doc id : UCDEKBRC00008412

Latest CDE patch should fix this : 11.00 = PHSS_27427 if it doesn't log a call with your local HP response Centre they *should* be able to supply you with a working dtfile executable
