Download gcc and binutils from the porting site! This will make your life much easier! if you have HP ansic, then you may be able to compile gcc, but I never tried.

Remember that the 11.0 and 11.i binaries are no different. I mean they both support 64bit, shared executables anyway. So binaries from 11 will run on 11i, and visa-versa.

11i was mostly packaging changes to make the OS a bit more secure and (internet ready). While there other differences too unless your running a firewall on one or on an open internet I would not worry too much.
**Feel free to correct if Im wrong**

Regards,
Shannon

Brian,

I to have received the same errors. and will try procura software which is GCC 3.0.2, The latest at http://hpux.cs.utah.edu/
is 3.0.4. I downloaded the depot software from hpux.cs.utah.edu but get the same error, a hint. The software works under a 32 bit processor but fails under a 64 bit machine. I am sure I will figure it out soon.

But I wanted to comment on "SAMBA". I recommend you install the 11i CIFS. instead. which is samba under a different name.
