I expect Manoj is correct that using "su - root" will help with the second issue.

The real problem may be the LIBPATH environment variable. Look at the value in the environment(s) that work. You may have current and older libraries on the machine and just need to point to the correct libraries. And you may have only the older libraries on some machines and need to update as Manoj suggested.

HP Jetdirect Printer Installer for UNIX on 10.x - /usr/lib/dld.sl error.

Hi-
I downloaded HP Jetdirect Printer installer for UNIX - versions for 10.x and
11.x. I have loaded 10.x on a 10.20 system with no problems and the 11.x
version on a 11.00 system with no problems. I then loaded the 10.x version on a
D200 10.01 system. When I execute hppi, I get the following when attempting to
add a printer:
/usr/lib/dld.sl: Invalid version for shared
library: /usr/lib/libc.1 /usr/lib/dld.sl Exec format error

I have also noticed on the systems I've setup that I'm able to execute hppi
when logged on directly as root but I am unable to su to root and then add a
printer. Can you help with this also?
Thanks, Terri Christensen, JDIS.
Hi Terri

if you su , you dont inherit the env of the root login , you need to do a su - root and then do the hppi setup .
Also for that the invalid version I recommedn you downlaod the driver again adn reinstall after cleanign teh old stuff.

Manoj Srivastava

Thanks for the responses. It appears that this version of Jetdirect Printer Installer was compiled on a higher version of o/s than 10.01 which causes the library incompatability. My environments were the same on both systems. I've loaded HP JetDirect Version B.02.01 and am looking at its potential instead. Terri Christensen.
