Be gentle with me, this is my first post to this forum. The server is a D370 running 10.20. Recently installed Dec 2001 patch cluster (customer machine, all "mine" already at 11). There didn't seem to be any unusual problems with the patch, just the normal space and dependencies issues. The machine is up and running but several problems may or may not be related:
I can't see the network port on 100BT GSC card no matter how many times I reboot or power off. In fact, it assigns the address that I had on that port to lo0. I downloaded patch PHNE_22216 and tried to rebuild the kernel and now with both SAM and manually from scratch mk_kernel gives the following error:
Compiling /stand/build/conf.c...
*** Error exit code 1
# mk_kernel
Compiling /stand/build/conf.c...
(Bundled) cc: "/usr/conf/space.h.d/core-hpux.h", line 165: error 1588: "LOTSFREE
" undefined.
(Bundled) cc: "/usr/conf/space.h.d/core-hpux.h", line 165: error 1521: Incorrect
initialization.
(Bundled) cc: "/usr/conf/space.h.d/core-hpux.h", line 166: error 1588: "DESFREE"
undefined.
(Bundled) cc: "/usr/conf/space.h.d/core-hpux.h", line 166: error 1521: Incorrect
initialization.
(Bundled) cc: "/usr/conf/space.h.d/core-hpux.h", line 167: error 1588: "MINFREE"
undefined.
(Bundled) cc: "/usr/conf/space.h.d/core-hpux.h", line 167: error 1521: Incorrect
initialization.
(Bundled) cc: "/usr/conf/space.h.d/core-hpux.h", line 168: error 1588: "MAXQUEUE
TIME" undefined.
(Bundled) cc: "/usr/conf/space.h.d/core-hpux.h", line 168: error 1521: Incorrect
initialization.
(Bundled) cc: "/usr/conf/space.h.d/core-hpux.h", line 838: error 1588: "LARGE_NC
ARGS_ENABLED" undefined.
(Bundled) cc: "/usr/conf/space.h.d/core-hpux.h", line 838: error 1521: Incorrect
initialization.
(Bundled) cc: "/usr/conf/space.h.d/core-hpux.h", line 844: error 1588: "KERN_VM_
PCT" undefined.
(Bundled) cc: "/usr/conf/space.h.d/core-hpux.h", line 844: error 1521: Incorrect
initialization.
(Bundled) cc: "/usr/conf/space.h.d/core-hpux.h", line 845: error 1588: "KERN_VM_
SCAN_RATE" undefined.
(Bundled) cc: "/usr/conf/space.h.d/core-hpux.h", line 845: error 1521: Incorrect
initialization.
*** Error exit code 1

Stop.
config: make did an exit(1)
I've searched the archives and the "net" for any hints and suspect this is a personal rather than HP problem. The output from "what" for every file that is involved seems to be correct except that I can't get the new btlan drivers without getting the new kernel compile. Hoping some guru will recognize what library, header file, c file, etc. is causing this problem. This is of course the network that connects to the router that connects to the customer and normally I love a challenge like this but I want to take the rest of the year off. Before that generates a lot of resentment, I should point out that even if I take off all of next week, I'm still losing 6 days of vacation this year. Thanks in advance for any help anyone has.
Candie

I got similar results after a hardware patch bundle corrupted my system file.

I had to go to a backup of that file, and reinstall my fiber drivers which were not in that system file.

Then I was cool.

Figuring it out only took like four months.

Steve
