As was said above, you need to install the DRIVERS for that lan card. Without the appropriate drivers, the OS will never see the card.

Any LAN card drivers you need should be on Applications CD #1.

Without knowing the specific LAN card you have, we can't tell you exactly which drivers to load.

I am having problems configuring Lan1, an external Ethernet card, on my hpux11.0 K9000
system. Instead after I installed the OS from scratch, it can only recognise lan2. Is there anything I am doing wrong with the install or is there anything I can do to configure this network card to be seen by the system ?

Hi,

What model of network card is lan1? Does it show up as "CLAIMED" or "NO_HW" in ioscan? Your network card might have software on the application CD that you need to load for it to work.

JP
You need to be a little more specific in identifying the LAN card but the fundamental problem is that you are missing the LAN driver software for this particular card. This software is almost always found on Disk 1 of any Applications Software Set. Mount that cd and do a swinstall and I suspect that ioscan will show the card as CLAIMED.
Hello,
I think you need to install "btlan1" driver for your K class machine. If your card is HP-PB 100 MBPS, it will need this driver. You can install the driver from your HP-UX 1st application CD. look for HP-PB 100MBPS card and install using swinstall. It will work then.

Thanks,

-pap

Hi,

Try this. Put your 1st application CD in the CD-ROM drive. Login as root and go into swinstall. Find the CD-ROM drive, and install the J2759BA package. See if that makes your LAN card happy.

JP
It appears that you have an old A3495A HP-PB LAN card; that requires J2759BA LAN software and that will be on Disk 1 of your Applications CD's.
