Hi Kirk,

You would have seen this behaviour if your box is running OS prior and upto 10.20 as these OSes were using pseudo terminals for telnet and rlogin.

OSes after 10.20 telnet and rlogin use streams devices. nstrtel is the corresponding kernel parameter.

-Sri

HPUX 11.11
N4000 server

Hi:

I'm looking at the npty used entry in system tables report in Glance (gpm).

glance-->reports-->system info-->system tables report

The ntpy available entry is 100. And this makes sense to me because when I do a kmtune -q ntpy it returns 100 for this parameter.

However, when I triggered off 5 telnet sessions from my PC over the network to this server, my used entry doesn't increase. It is currently sitting at 4. I wanted to/expected to see the used entry increase to 9.

My update interval in glance is every 5 seconds.

Can anyone tell me why the used colume doesn't increase??

Thank you,

Kirk Reindl
