Cynthia:

If you're absolutely certain that nothing has changed on your end, I would contact the ISP and see if they can help. Also, if they have webmail, I would determine if new mail is available to view via webmail.

I would also check the Event Viewer messages to see if they are helpful.

HTH

Make a great day!

Roger

Our organization is currently running exchange 2000 and all of a sudden, we cannot get outside mail. We can get internal mail but not external and we can get to the internet. No setting have changed.

Verify that your SMTP service is running by doing a

telnet <EXCHANGE-SERVER ip=""> 25

If that is OK verify the configuration of your SMTP service. It will either use DNS to resolve and send emails directly to other mail servers on the internet or it will use a "Smart host" (channel all outbound emails via your ISP's SMTP).

If telnet is OK and config is OK, look for stopped mail queue. Sometimes corrupt messages can cause a "traffic jam".

Firewalls blocking or dropping traffic on port 25 is another area to look at.

Cheers,
Rune</EXCHANGE-SERVER>
