topic XFree86 4.1.0 w/ Pavilion 5415 in Operating System - Linux

How can I set up my XServer to run in 1024x768 mode. I can run (non frame buffered) up to 800x600 at 32bits but the server responds unrecognized mode at 1024x768. If I enable frame buffering the server no longer reports an error, but the screen is grey w/ nothing visible. Has anyone had any luck with XFree86 and this laptop? Also what are the proper HSync VSync DotClock HTimings and VTimings for the laptops display?
