      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt; I want to upgrade my kernel from 2.4.9-e.3 to 2.4.9-e.24 from rhn.redhat.com. If I use up2date the kernel will be upgraded to the latest kernel,which I dont want at the moment.&lt;BR /&gt;Is it possible and has anybody done this?&lt;BR /&gt;rgds - mjs</description>

      <description>it sure is possible.&lt;BR /&gt;If you download rpm then use&lt;BR /&gt;rpm -ivh kernelversion.rpm&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;this way you'll have two kernel versions to boot.So if the newer version doesn't boot properly -you'll still be able to boot the old one...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It is important not to use the rpm -Uvh ...</description>
