I'd probably go with the latest eratta kernel I could find (RH9 8.12.8-9), and use that, by grabbing the src rpm from your favourite redhat mirror, and using 'rpm --rebuild sendmail-8.12.8-9.src.rpm', and installing the resultant RPM's (stored in /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/).

You don't have to upgrade RH, just use one of it's freely available packages.

All of the SRC RPM's for RH9 are available, and you should be able to re-compile one of them for your RH7 box.

I would take the following steps, at a minimum. If you must still use Red Hat 7.x, upgrade to 7.3 and run the up2date utility to get the lastest security fixes and bug fixes in.

That whould allow you to go with the 2.4 kernel, which is stable.

Then as Stuart says the rpm for sendmail 8.12 can be installed, has few if any dependencies and you're all done.

SEP
