      <description>Redhat 7.3 sendmail 8.11&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Email server ...behind a firewall.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Dns is obtained from another server.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have confused myself so please be patient!!!&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;our domain is &lt;A href="http://www.xxxx.net" target="_blank"&gt;www.xxxx.net&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;sendmail is configured to "present system as xxx.net.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;the hostname is mail.xxx.net&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;when users send mail from outlook express the mail reaches it's destination as someone@mail.xxx.net.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;before we switched our isp the mail went out as ...someone@xxx.net&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;i want the mail to be someone@xxx.net.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What have i done wrong?? is the firewall configured wrong...sendmail???&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;A href="http://www.dnsreport.com" target="_blank"&gt;www.dnsreport.com&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;testing with someone@xxx.net is good.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;testing with someone@mail.xxx.net is a no go.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if i am correct ..when users send a email and it goes out with a reply to someone@mail.xxx.net we won't get our mail???&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I  believe you are correct!! I will check on Mon. with our provider....we are not hosting are own DNS.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks again!!       <description>If you have no DJ directive the senmail server uses the hostname of the system.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;But.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This is overridden by the DNS setting for the IP address on the public Internet.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;But sendmail still says who the mail is from.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This can be set and fine tuned with sendmail macros.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Cwinvestmenttool.com&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;also see the masquerade as.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;See the attached script which among other things builds the sendmail.cf file.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>
