Unable to install Redhat linux AS 2.1 on HP proliant ML 570G2

Hi,

Iam unable to install RHAS2.1 on HP ML570 G2. Iam getting an error like "an error has occured - no valid devices were found on which to create the file system". How do I solve this problem. Pls help

Hi,
I download the later smart array 640x driver and booted with "linux dd",it seems to detect cciss scsi driver but throws the error.

If you've downloaded and are using the appropraite 'cciss' driver, then I would assume that you've not correctly assigned the containers in the array.

Have you created the containers in the SmartArray utility during the boot process?

- do you see cciss in "lsmod" output?

- try to run "fdisk -l" - do you have any output?

You may want to search the forum using the search field at the top of the screen.

I used a recent RedHat AS2.1 download (Quarterly Update 3) which gave no problems at all on my DL360 (which has an HP SmartArray 5i+.

First, at boot up configure the array for example as 1 logical RAID 1 disk (mirroring). Linux should see one disk...

Stuart, I have created the array and works fine if i install win2k on the server, my doubt is iam not using the correct driver.

Vitaly Karasik, I suppose u havent understood my problem Iam yet to install RHAS 2.1 so iam afraid I cant award you points for that.

Ok, so you've correctly assigned the container. Cool.

You've downloaded the driver diskette, and are loading it using:

linux dd

when starting the installation, and then inserting the 'cciss' driver?
