What distribution do you mean by "Linux 9" ?
If Redhat or any other distro using rpm, have a look at http://rpmfind.net/ else go to samba offical site : http://www.samba.org/

He means Red Hat 9, he's got a series of threads with regards to ongoing issues with Samba 2.x

Someone with some Samba 3.x experience, please chime in with some advice and gotcha's. I'm sure he'd appreciate it.
