No. insmod'ing during installation does not work. It fails without any significant error. Still not working. I'll have to stick with SuSE 8.X series I guess unless I find a way. Any other thoughts?

Hi folks,I'm having problems installing SuSE 9.0 on LH 6000 server. During installation I get "no disks found". The problem is that I cannot load megaraid and megaraid2 modules. Is this a known issue? If so what's the best way to attack the problem. Thanks in advance.

Check that the drivers you are using are supported by the hardware manufacturer and is certified for use with the distribution.

If not, find a combination that is certified.

Make sure power to the array is solid and the connector cables if any are good.

SEP

That's not the case at all. I must have given a bit detail but I've written the message in a rush.Details are LH 6000 dual Xeon CPU 1 x 36 Gb HD.(it does CPU intensive work)There's no SAN around, only 5 x 2 SCSI internal bus. It has SuSE 7.2 loaded with upgraded stock kernel (2.4.4-64GB-SMP)However we need to upgrade the OS to SuSE 9.0. Here are the kernel modules currently being used.eepro100 16272 1 (autoclean)reiserfs 157200 2megaraid 21280 4As you can see megaraid is being used, so I tried to have the same module loaded during installation but no lock. Neither the megaraid2 driver works.Any opinions?

Try to force the megaraid module load at the initial installation point, by forcing instmod megaraid
That worked for us.

Are you using a NetRAID 4M controller in this?

If so, try using the aacraid module. I use this on the system I have in the test-bed.

If you do a modinfo on the aacraid module, you'll see a list of some of the comtrollers it supports.

Col.

Sounds good. I guess it's the same card. I'll give it a try as soon as possible. I'm very unluck not to have a spare server with the same specs. :(
