Jun 28 03:59:04 hostxyz sshd(pam_unix)[13258]: authentication
failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty=NODEVssh ruser=
rhost=xx.yy.zz.in-addr.arpa user=root

Any idea? Thanks. What does tty=NODEV mean? Does it mean it can't allocate any more tty device or because it failed to auth. and no tty device was allocated? Thanks.

I get exactly the same messages if I try to login with an incorrect password.

NODEV probably means no (tty) device.

JP.
