Does anyone know if Lynix support ACPI? and is there any program work like CPUIdle in Windows that would cool down the CPU?

ACPI seems to be supported in the kernel (2.2.16 at least), but it also seems to lack support from userland programs.

Maybe you'd want to write one (joke) ?

Wish I could write one myself, guess I'll have to quit my job then work full time on it :).

Anyway, is kernel 2.2.16 a stable version from user perspective? I've seem some posting saying that particular kills hardware !!!
