    <description>Very nice to see your reply .on our set up linux box as SMTP gateway and we are restricting the user to send SMTP mails using /etc/aliases database .Can you pl advice  we can go ahead to stop the same&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>'updatedb' is the process which updates the 'slocate' database on a nightly basis.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you don't use the 'locate' database, then you can remove the execute permissions from the file '/etc/cron.daily/slocate.cron' (or just remove it) to stop it from running.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;That being said, it really shouldn't run for more than a few minutes on a nightly basis, unless a whole lot of changes are occuring.</description>
