Why do you need to use vxfs? the other proposals would allow you full r/w + permissions and are the norm (at least in our environment).

Cheers,

-=ChaZ=-
Hi all!

I need to mount a vxfs filesystem of my Hp-UX 10.20 server in another server running Red-Hat enterprise es release 3. Question: is freevxfs a reliable tool to read/write vxfs files format? Is safe?

Hugs

Wagner

Several choices:

You an use nfs

/etc/exports
/filesystem_to_mount

save it

exportfs -av

Samba is built into Linux unless you explicitly excluded it.

Samba is called CIFS/9000 on HP-UX. To get it for 10.20 you'll need to install the depot files.

That may be vailable here.

SEP
Charles and friends

It´s a long story and my english is not so good to explain all situation involving freevxfs and hp-ux. In short terms, i need to mount hp-ux vxfs filesystems in a red-hat server running freevxfs to realize some massives backup operations through emc storages (8830 and cx500 models).

What i need to know is: How reliable is freevxfs to preserve data integrity when write/read in vxfs filesystem?

Thanks

Wagn
