Hello,
I have been trying to install, from CDROM drive, Enterprise Server Version 9 onto a Compaq DL320 with 2GB of memory.

I am able to to start the boot process with the disk installed, set the date and time, and pick the application I wish to load to the system.
After picking all my choices I am told that all information has been obtained and would you like to install the system now, which I say YES

The difficulty is, a blue line comes up with the message "preparing /dev/hda2" with the little animated clock moving around and around.
But the system just sits there and nothing get loaded.

I thought that maybe there is something wrong with the system so I did the whole process over on another DL320 but received the exact same results.

Before putting in the Enterprise server software I did put in SmartStart ver. 7.10 and informed the system that I was putting Linux on

Is anyone else using a DL320 and if so are you having the same problems??

I had the same problem with a blade server, I chose "Installation - Safe Settings" from the boot menu and installation worked.

Rufo.

Yes, I tried the "safe" installation but then received a GRUB Disk Error when trying to boot. I installed again, telling it not to install a boot loader and got a message that it couldn't find the C: drive. This is Unix right?

I have two drives configured for IDE Raid 1. I wondering if I'm not partitioning it correctly.

I'm trying to get away from RedHat, but RedHat installs fine.
