Hi

The cciss error is from the smart array controller, if it is a one time thing then cannot do much but if it is been happening quite often then you can talk to HP and see what they have to tell, they can suggest to get them replaced.

Rgds

HGN

Is there any existing utility/tool to diagnose the smart array controller in Linux? Thanks in advance.

George

in order to monitor your smart array configuration you have to run cpqacuxe, and then connect to http://127.0.0.1:2301.
Se more at:
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/14703.html
You can also monitor the sa array offline, booting from smart start cd.

Anyway I think that your problem is not related to the smart array, but to the tape. Did you connect it to the smart array? Please check it: I don't think it is a supported config.

I have been seeing the same behavior on my server, However I only get this when I have started with the nosmp startup on SLES9. If I boot without any paramiters everything comes up just fine.
