We've had this problem intermittently when using usb mice and keyboards. Same exact symptoms. Removing and replacing the cable clears up the problem. We haven't found a permanent solution yet. Don't do this with non-usb devices.

Hi

My machine is hp workstation xw4000 with 2.4.21-15EL RedaHatkernel.
I observe that the entire console hangs while using Graphic applications. i.e The monitor doesnt reflect any key-board or mouse responses.
But, I'm able to telnet to the machine remotely and ps -ef doesnt show application loops or odd behaviour of the graphical application in question.

Mabel Nelson
Not very much to go on here, I suppose you start xdm at boot time, is there nothing to be had from the /var/log files ?, Perhaps the next time it hang you could boot without starting xdm and start it up with startx from a console, like this when it hang you can <CTRL><ALT><F>

the * is the number of the console you started X from (like F1,F2,F3,...)

and see if there not more there to go on from... ?

well just a suggestion realy!

Jean-Pierre Huc</F></ALT></CTRL>

Hi computers,

I think of it is a driver problem. Try to upgrade driver and resetup xfree86 use redhat-config-xfree86.

NiCK

Sounds like what happens when my kvm switch hangs. Is there one of those involved?

Also an up2date session might not be a bad idea.

SEP
